“Peer-to-peer business networks built by CDCS connects 80,000+ farmers, entrepreneurs, SMEs and actors in communities including services, inputs and farming— powering inclusion, innovation, and income across Bangladesh.”
CDCS® demonstrated its leadership in inclusive market systems development through the successful implementation of the USAID-funded project “Development of Peer-to-Peer SME Business Networks Involving Trade Value Chain Actors in Bangladesh.” Implemented under the Agricultural Value Chains (AVC) initiative, the project focused on strengthening micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) across key southern districts—Jessore, Kaliganj, Satkhira, Kotchandpur, Saatmile, and Khajura. By advancing peer-to-peer (P2P) networking, business collaboration, and capacity development, CDCS® laid the foundation for a more inclusive, competitive, and climate-resilient business ecosystem.
The initiative began with a comprehensive baseline assessment to map trade value chains, assess SME capacities, and identify collaboration opportunities. This analytical groundwork led to the creation of a gender-disaggregated entrepreneur database, enabling targeted interventions and inclusive engagement. Building on this, CDCS® launched its SME Growth Accelerator Model, combining business mentorship, peer-learning exchanges, trading insights, and cluster-based collaboration to strengthen entrepreneurial capacities and operational efficiency among emerging agribusinesses.
To foster real-world learning and network synergy, CDCS® established a suite of innovative engagement platforms including the G4G Krishi Beboshay Group, G4G Krishi Adda, G4G Business Tours, G4G Business Centers, and FarmersEnd Platform. Through these, more than 20,000 pulse farmers, 20,000+ women entrepreneurs in homestead and processed agro-produce, 23,000 mango farmer cum traders, and 15,000 floating vegetable growers and value chain actors participated in business linkages, fairs, and market events such as the Southern Mango Fest and National Fruit Fairs. These efforts directly expanded market access, created buyer-supplier linkages, and fostered cross-learning among rural enterprises.
The project delivered measurable transformation—entrepreneurs reported stronger market presence, improved business profitability, and greater collaboration across value chains. Women and youth-led SMEs emerged as drivers of innovation and leadership, while producers adopted safer food production, financial literacy, and climate-smart practices. By integrating research, capacity building, and network facilitation, CDCS®’s Peer-to-Peer SME Business Network Model has become a tested, scalable framework for small and medium enterprise growth and inclusive business transformation across Bangladesh.
