In a bid to enhance the accessibility of market information for stakeholders in Bangladesh's fisheries sector, CDCS® supported the development of a dedicated content section on international cross-border trade of fish and fish products for the Bangladesh Trade Portal. This effort aimed to enrich the portal with comprehensive and accurate information to assist stakeholders in navigating the complexities of international trade.
To achieve this, CDCS® conducted extensive research and organized stakeholder meetings and key informant interviews (KIIs) to gather detailed insights into the import and export processes of fish and fisheries products. The team compiled and analyzed substantial datasets covering the trade of major fish products and synthesized these findings into a format suitable for the trade portal. By providing evidence-based insights and data-driven recommendations, CDCS® enabled stakeholders to make informed decisions about engaging in international markets, particularly targeting regions like the EU, US, China, Japan, and other SAARC nations.
Beyond content development, the project also aimed at promoting sustainable growth within the fisheries industry by emphasizing responsible practices that align with international environmental standards. Additionally, CDCS® facilitated market access for Bangladeshi exporters by identifying top buyers and building collaborative partnerships with key players in the global market. These efforts directly contributed to increasing Bangladesh’s competitiveness in international fish markets, while simultaneously fostering a collaborative environment among local stakeholders to enhance the sector’s overall sustainability.
